In the summer of 2016, Southern SARE, in conjunction with the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) in North Carolina, held a Southern Cover Crop Conference. The event was in response to a regional need for collaboration and discussion of cover crop research, the innovations of their use and management in crop production (cotton, corn, soybean and vegetables), and the solutions to challenges faced by researchers, farmers, Extension specialists and natural resource personnel. The following fact sheets were developed based on the wide variety of topics and field demonstrations that were presented during the conference; topics ranging from economics to nutrient management to equipment. They are intended to serve as references in a wide variety of cover crop management practices.
