Changing or Adding Subawards

Subawards are commitments by institutions, organizations, or agencies that have an active role, participate, or are engaged in activities on a project to complete or help complete a portion of the projects scopes or objectives. Subawards, at times, are referred to cooperating institutions, cooperators, and third party participants.

To make changes in subawards, provide a letter requesting the change to or addition of a subaward, justification, and circumstances for the addition or change, and the role of the subaward participant:

  • Budget modification request showing where the funds will be transferred from. (ie. Existing subaward cancelled and funds will be diverted to the new one or a transfer of funds from Operating and Travel to the subaward) and a statement regarding the effects of such transfer of funds on the originally approved scopes and objectives;
  • Plan of work from the new proposed subaward;
  • Budget of the new subaward;
  • Budget narrative of new subaward;
  • Letter of support from the new subaward principal investigator;
  • Include the original SARE subaward number or project number;
  • cc Tydaisha White all change requests;
  • Address the request to the appropriate SSARE staff for your grant type.
